The Challenge

During a companywide transition from PeopleSoft HRIS to Oracle HCM, WM seized an opportunity to manage its job information with more speed, control, and confidence. Before the transition, WM managed its job descriptions in individual Word documents. Moving to a new platform was a good reason to consolidate and update that information. WM also recognized a big opportunity to maintain version control and ensure everyone in the company could access the most up-to-date job descriptions. Historically, HRBPs and corporate compensation personnel chased down information manually. Finding the most updated version took a lot of time and follow-up because WM job descriptions were stored on three SharePoint sites—some of which hadn’t been updated in years. For a company with 1,750+ unique job descriptions and 48,000 employees, the minutes quickly added up. It took an average of two business weeks to finalize a job description and implement it into the previous HRIS system.

The Solution

WM wanted a clean slate, using only the best version of their job descriptions, to coincide with the go-live of Oracle HCM. They chose JDXpert to help turn that goal into a reality. What sealed the deal was having a cloud-based app that supported all of their job descriptions, gave stakeholders the visibility they needed, and provided a consistent format and ability to improve content with a few simple clicks. “We know where to look and it’s very easy to retrieve what we need. With a looming transition date, speed to implementation was a key consideration when choosing JDXpert. The old method of emailing different teams and waiting for a Word doc attachment is out. That same process now takes under 48 hours—80% less time. “We’ve leveraged the JDXpert system to document and create a new job at WM in a fraction of the time,” Mark says. “We’ve also experienced great time-savings for updating and retrieving job descriptions.” WM continues to grow and hiring the right talent at the right time is a key part of that.
